🔵 What is Pi (π)?
- Pi is a special number.
- It tells us the relationship between a circle’s distance around and its width.
🧠 Easy line:
Pi helps us measure circles
🟢 What does Pi mean?
- Take any circle.
- Measure:
- Distance around the circle → called circumference
- Distance across the middle → called diameter
👉 When you divide:
[
\text{Circumference} ÷ \text{Diameter} = \pi
]
🔢 What is the value of Pi?
- Pi ≈ 3.14
- It is written as π
- The digits go on forever: 3.1415926…
For kids:
Just remember 3.14
🎯 Simple example (very easy!)
Example: Using a plate 🍽️
- Diameter of a plate = 10 cm
- Distance around the plate ≈ 31.4 cm
Why?
[
10 × 3.14 = 31.4
]
👉 So the edge around the plate is about 3 times bigger than the width.
🧁 Another fun example
- Imagine walking around a round garden.
- If it is 1 meter wide,
- You need to walk about 3.14 meters to go all the way around.
🌟 Fun facts for kids
- Pi is named after the Greek letter π
- Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 (3/14) 🎉
- Pi is used by engineers, builders, astronauts
🧠 Easy to remember
Pi = 3.14
Circle around = 3.14 × width
