Why Does Earth Have Seasons

1️⃣ Earth is tilted

  • Earth does not stand straight.
  • It is tilted (leaning) a little to one side.
  • This tilt is about 23.5 degrees.

🧠 Think of Earth like a tilted spinning top.

2️⃣ Earth goes around the Sun

  • Earth takes 1 year to go around the Sun.
  • While moving, Earth stays tilted the same way.

3️⃣ Sunlight hits Earth differently

Because of the tilt:

  • One part of Earth gets more sunlight
  • Another part gets less sunlight

More sunlight = warmer
Less sunlight = cooler

🌞 How seasons are created

🌸 Summer

  • Your side of Earth is tilted toward the Sun
  • Days are longer
  • Weather is hot

❄️ Winter

  • Your side is tilted away from the Sun
  • Days are shorter
  • Weather is cold

🍂 Spring & 🍁 Autumn

  • Earth is in between
  • Weather is mild
  • Days and nights are almost equal

4️⃣ Important fact (very important!)

❌ Seasons are NOT caused because Earth is closer or farther from the Sun.
✅ Seasons happen because of Earth’s tilt.

🧠 Easy way to remember

Tilt + Sunlight = Seasons

⭐ Fun fact for kids

  • When it is summer in India, it is winter in Australia!
