1️⃣ What is Mount Everest?
- Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth.
- It is part of the Himalaya mountain range.
- It lies between India and Asia (Nepal & Tibet).
2️⃣ What are tectonic plates?
- Earth’s outer layer is broken into huge pieces called tectonic plates.
- These plates slowly move, like very slow puzzle pieces.
🧠 They move about as fast as fingernails grow!
3️⃣ Which plates made Everest?
- The Indian Plate is moving north.
- The Eurasian Plate is moving south.
- These two plates crash into each other.
4️⃣ How does this make Everest taller?
- When the plates collide, the land crumples and folds upward.
- This pushing makes the Himalayas rise higher.
- Mount Everest grows by about a few millimeters every year.
5️⃣ Why doesn’t Everest grow forever?
- Wind, snow, and ice wear the mountain down (erosion).
- Growth and erosion happen together.
- Growth is slow but still happening today.
⭐ Fun facts for kids
